ventureLAB welcomes David Agnew to its Board of Directors

ventureLAB is pleased to announce Seneca President David Agnew is joining its Board of Directors. David will replace outgoing board member, Laurel Schollen, Seneca’s Vice-President, Academic, who is retiring after more than 35 years of teaching and administrative experience in the postsecondary sector. “We are excited to welcome David back to ventureLAB’s Board of Directors as we continue to build an integrated commercialization and talent ecosystem,” said Paul Bradley, Chair of the Board, ventureLAB. “On behalf of ventureLAB, we thank Laurel for her inspiring leadership and wish her well during her retirement.” This is David’s second time serving on the ventureLAB board. He brings decades of executive leadership experience from roles including Secretary to the Cabinet and head of the public service in the Government of Ontario, President and CEO, UNICEF Canada, the national Ombudsman for Banking Services and Investments and the Executive Vice-President and Corporate Secretary for the Credit Union of Central Ontario. “I am delighted be re-joining ventureLAB’s Board of Directors and continue the important work to develop York Region’s innovation ecosystem,” said David Agnew, Seneca President. “Supporting young tech entrepreneurs is essential for a successful post-pandemic economic recovery.” David is also Chair of CADTH, the Canadian Agency for Drugs and Technologies in Health, past chair of Colleges Ontario and Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre, former vice-chair of the Education Quality and Accountability Office (EQAO) and a founding member of Sichuan University’s International Advisory Board. ventureLAB and Seneca have enjoyed a highly collaborative, strategic partnership for many years — a great model of fostering the commercialization and talent ecosystem that often grow into innovative products and thriving businesses. Laurel Schollen has represented Seneca on ventureLAB’s board for the past three years.
