The First Innovation Outpost Event Took Place At SOAR Innovation Chatham-Kent

Businesses from across Chatham-Kent and Southwestern Ontario recently came together to launch the first of a five part event series called Innovation Outposts powered by Libro Credit Union in partnership with Chatham-Kent Economic Development. The event, which was held on May 25, 2022, was focused on the new $30,000 in green technology grant funding available through the Federal i.d.e.a. Fund. Following a presentation by WETechAlliance, the group hosting the event, attendees continued the night with an opportunity for facilitated networking.

Adam Castle from WETechAlliance speaking about the variety of free services offered to help Chatham-Kent businesses grow, including advice on applying for the federal i.d.e.a Fund $30,000 green tech grant.

“It was a great evening with representation from a wide variety of businesses sectors,” said Adam Castle, Director of Venture Services for WETechAlliance. “We had about 20 people in the room and everyone was engaged, asking questions, and really interested in not only the funding, but sharing their stories and building connections with other entrepreneurs.”

The Innovation Outpost event series, powered by Libro Credit Union, connects businesses with important resources designed to inspire growth and strong relationships.

“After two years of being physically disconnected  from each other, there is a huge opportunity right now to help our local business leaders to connect in person and discuss the important trends and issues that will power their growth moving forward,” said Castle.

Jenna Gardner, Owner of Willow Barrel Retreat in Erieau, was one of the many local business owners who attended the event.

The next Outpost event, titled Womenpreneurs: Leadership Panel Discussion, is scheduled for June 15, 2022 and is being hosted at The Co. at 208 Queen Street, Chatham.  This event, which is open for anyone to attend, brings together a panel of four outstanding women business leaders who have not only survived the past 2 years, but thrived.

One thing many of them have in common is they launched their business just before the pandemic hit or even during the pandemic. It’s an open, honest, and heartfelt panel discussion where you can hear how they adjusted, what they are doing now to succeed, and where they are going with their next steps in growth.
