Celebrating Black leadership in social impact; tackling water scarcity; building better workplaces for people with disabilities. February’s calendar has online events for everyone in the innovation community.
Here are the top online tech gatherings to attend this February.
Karen Schuett is co-founder and CEO of Livestock Water Recycling (LWR), and one of the most influential women in Canadian agriculture. She’s also the next featured speaker at MaRS Mornings, our monthly series profiling inspiring Canadian innovators. Based in Calgary, LWR has built and manufactured industrial wastewater treatment systems designed to treat hydrocarbon contaminated groundwater. During this session, Schuett will discuss fundraising as a woman CEO, the circular economy and how sustainability does not need to come at the expense of profit. February 15, online
The MaRS and CIBC Inclusive Design Challenge: Support at Work asks Canadian innovators from all backgrounds to present solutions that can support work for persons with disabilities. With only a few weeks to go until the March 1 submission deadline, we’re hosting an informational webinar for curious participants. Attendees will learn about the challenge requirements, receive tips on creating successful submissions and have questions answered live. February 16, online
As part of Black History Month, Future of Good and the Foundation for Black Communities will host hundreds of changemakers from across the country to celebrate the achievements of Black leaders in social impact. The long-term goal of the initiative: build an anti-racist social impact sector. Some of the questions that will be answered include: How might changemakers build actively anti-racist teams, services and programs? How can we design more equitable social policy? And how can we shift capital and narratives? February 24–25, online
