TechAlliance Announces Two Winners for the Fourth London Innovation Challenge

LONDON, ON. November 24, 2023 — Following the launch of the fourth London Innovation Challenge, TechAlliance of Southwestern Ontario, alongside an adjudication panel of local industry leaders, announced Broad Films and Joydrop Ltd. as the winners of the Challenge at a live pitch competition on November 23, 2023. These two companies were awarded $40,000 each in non-dilutive funding and business advisory support from TechAlliance’s seasoned team of coaches.

These innovative ventures bring a unique perspective on leveraging technology to bolster innovation, investment and growth for the creative industries in Canada’s first UNESCO’s City of Music, London, ON.

Since 2020, TechAlliance has proudly hosted the London Innovation Challenge to address our region’s recovery needs in alignment with the London Community Recovery Network (LCRN) goals of Investing in People, Driving Prosperity and Fostering Community.  With this Challenge, we aim to create a platform for tech and innovation companies to bring their ideas and expertise to accelerate economic growth.

This year’s challenge proposal focused on the creative industries of film, television, music, visual arts, entertainment, gaming, events and tourism. Local tech companies were asked to leverage technology, and the diversity of the London region, to inspire innovation, investment and growth within the local creative industries.

A full-service production company helping outside producers make economical productions and take advantage of lower regional tax credits in London city, Broad Films will be utilizing this investment to incorporate their business, devise their marketing strategy and meet with potential production partners in Toronto.

Joydrop Ltd., a video game development company that builds tools to collect gamer feedback, help with console porting and co-development, will be utilizing this investment to build integrated user feedback collection at the game engine level through their Game Slice Feedback Plugin Software.

These innovative companies are not only advancing the synergy between technology and creativity but also empowering local creators to contribute to London's economic prosperity as a rapidly growing urban innovation hub
