Life Sciences Scale-Up Fund (LSSUF)

The Life Sciences Scale-Up Fund (LSSUF) is designed to support small-to-medium enterprises (SMEs) in Ontario’s life sciences sector by providing financial assistance to help them scale operations, drive innovation, and strengthen the healthcare supply chain. SMEs can receive up to $2.5 million, covering 33% of eligible project costs, with the remaining 67% funded by the applicants. The program targets SMEs with at least two years of operation, 5 to 500 full-time employees, and plans to operate within Ontario.

Eligible projects must demonstrate readiness for scale-up, continuation of prior work, and completion within two years. The program complements other initiatives like the Health Innovation Pathway and Health Technology Accelerator Fund.

Applications open January 20th, 2025, and close March 3rd, 2025, with decisions announced within 60 business days of the deadline.

To apply, companies must first complete a self-assessment form, register with Transfer Payment Ontario, and prepare required documentation, including financial statements, quotes, and a corporate family tree. The LSSUF is a discretionary program, meaning meeting eligibility criteria does not guarantee approval, as funding depends on the strength and volume of applications. Applicants are encouraged to consult a Ministry Business Advisor for guidance.
