Ryerson University is a public research university located in Toronto. The university operates a business incubator for early-stage technology start-ups called The DMZ. The incubator assists start-ups by connecting them with investors and researchers, as well as provide them access to mentors from industry-related experts. Notable research projects and endeavours by university faculty includes hitchBOT, a hitchhiking robot, formed a part of the larger Smart Robots for Health Communication project, a joint research initiative between the two universities to study social robotics, artificial intelligence, and human-to-robot interactions; especially in a clinical environment.
