NWO Pitch It: Meet our Judges

The second annual NWO Pitch IT event will see Entrepreneurs from the Northwestern Ontario Region Pitch their business ideas to a panel of Judges and Investors for the chance to win prizes starting at:

1ST PRIZE - $5000 | 2ND PRIZE - $3000 | 3RD PRIZE - $2000 | PEOPLE'S CHOICE - $1000

$1500 in IP support from Bereskin & Parr vouchers will also be awarded.

The NWO Pitch IT competition is open to individuals located within the Kenora and Rainy River Districts with a business idea, new business start-up or proposed business expansion. Applications will be accepted from March 1st – March 15th and the event itself will be held virtually on April 20th at 6pm CST.

OUR JUDGES

Crystal George

Executive Director, NTAB (Northwest Training & Adjustment Board)

Crystal is the Executive Director at NTAB, serving both the Kenora and Rainy River Districts. The role of Ontario Workforce Planning Boards is to engage communities and community partners in local labour market development. By conducting and analyzing local labour market research, trends and planning processes, we work to develop community partnerships to find solutions to local issues.

Crystal also has a strong background in Employment Services, with 14 years of experience as an Employment Counsellor and Job Developer, specializing in assisting the local youth in accessing labour market opportunities and training. Her main NTAB office is located in Dryden, Ontario, but she also works from her home office in Fort Frances, Ontario.


Michelle Hiscox

Economic Development Officer with Chukuni Communities Development Corporation in Red Lake and a member of the Economic Developers Association of Canada

Michelle holds a degree in psychology from the University of Lethbridge, is a certified Life Skills Coach through Medicine Hat College, and is currently completing economic development certification through the University of Waterloo. Michelle has multiple years of experience in community and economic development, project management, business planning consultation and assessment, marketing, networking facilitation, and large-scale event planning and coordination to bring industry stakeholders, businesses, and communities together.


Dave Allen

Senior Business Relationship Manager at Copperfin Credit Union

Dave's role is to engage with business owners, from new start ups all the way to large expansions. Whether he’s ironing out kinks in business plans or assisting with everyday financial needs, Dave truly enjoys working with business owners and moving their financial lives forward.
