New 557 Campaign Connects Entrepreneurs in Region

In response to the recent findings from the Technology Councils of North America (TECNA) and Canada’s Tech Network (CTN) talent migration study, “Tech Workforce Trends: The Migration of Tech Jobs Since the Pandemic”, we are thrilled to announce the launch of “557,” an innovative campaign aimed at fostering connections and collaboration among tech workers and entrepreneurs who have recently relocated to (or back to) our region.

The TECNA and CTN study, released earlier this month, highlighted the significant influx of talented individuals – 557 to be exact – who have returned to our area. Recognizing the immense potential of this talent pool, the “557” campaign seeks to create a thriving tech ecosystem where new professionals, entrepreneurs, and students can connect, share resources, and leverage collective knowledge.

Through a short survey, our aim is to gauge the interest of these talented individuals and immediately provide them with ways to connect to the regional tech community. Additionally, we plan to establish an online platform that will support further connections and knowledge sharing.

“The tech industry is growing in our region, attracting a wealth of skilled professionals and entrepreneurs,” said Yvonne Pilon, President and CEO at WETechAlliance. With “557,” our goal is to ensure that this influx of talent finds a welcoming and supportive ecosystem that nurtures innovation and growth.”

Depending on the uptake, WETechAlliance hopes to schedule a series of networking events. These events will serve as a platform for individuals to come together, form meaningful connections, and meet the faces of the organizations, institutions and community that supports them.
