Oshawa, ON – June 20, 2025 — The Spark Commercialization and Innovation Centre has announced the appointment of Martin Yuill as its new Executive Director, effective July 1, 2025. With over twenty years of experience in entrepreneurship, innovation, and economic development, Martin is set to lead Spark Centre in its mission to support both local and international companies, and to enhance economic growth in Durham Region, Northumberland County, and the broader Eastern Ontario corridor.
Hari Sambasivam, Chair of the Board of Directors, expressed excitement over Martin's appointment, highlighting his extensive background in building innovation communities and fostering entrepreneurial success. Martin’s familiarity with the region adds to his suitability for guiding Spark’s future development and impact.
As one of Ontario’s Regional Innovation Centres, Spark Centre aims to bolster innovation-driven entrepreneurship in its service areas. The Centre offers a range of supportive services, including advisory assistance, investment readiness programs, commercialization strategies, and strategic connections that help technology-based startups transition into globally competitive enterprises.
Martin Yuill joins Spark with an established reputation for furthering innovation and economic growth initiatives across Canada. Known for his strategic insight and ability to cultivate partnerships, he brings a wealth of expertise in building dynamic innovation ecosystems.
