London named in the Top 10 North American tech markets again

Announcing their annual Scoring Tech Talent 2023 Report, CBRE highlights and recognizes trends and patterns of the top-ranked tech talent markets in North America. For the second year in a row, London Ontario was ranked in the top 10 emerging tech markets in North America, moving up two spots to #8 from #10 in 2022.

Coming as no surprise to Londoners, the city continues to demonstrate great strides in the tech and innovation ecosystem, including ambitious and talented students graduating from Western University and Fanshawe College, alongside connected incubators, accelerators, an innovation hub, and economic development organizations – London is bustling with a top-tier talent pool and innovative, high-potential ventures and world-class unicorns. Evaluating London on a narrower set of criteria, CBRE reports that smaller markets with exponential growth rate have huge operational advantage due to economical real estate and labour costs. Following the same evaluation pattern as last year, CBRE ranked the emerging markets based on 13 different measures of a region’s ability to attract and develop tech talent, including tech-job concentration, tech labor pool size, and real estate costs.

With an incredible 79% total tech growth and a jump in total tech employment from 13,700 to 16,100 tech jobs in twelve months, London offers additional talent pools to help companies expand their geographical reach and uncover opportunities.

We see firsthand the sharp focus that London’s community of innovators, founders, industry leaders and talented teams bring to the Canada’s innovation economy. To be recognized in the top 10 emerging North American tech markets is a distinct advantage that further accelerates innovation and talent retention and attraction in the city. We’re thrilled to be recognized as a globally competitive innovative market, creating opportunities and transforming scaling companies into anchor tech firms in Canada.”
