The most recent Spring 2022 cohort of TechAlliance’s GROW Accelerator, facilitated by Venture Growth and Corporate Innovation Advisor, Andrew Leest, has seen inspiring entrepreneurs participate in a platform with the opportunity learn and grow together. The GROW Accelerator powers entrepreneurs to make the crucial leap from start-up to scale-up and has proudly seen 16 impressive companies complete the sessions over the course of four cohorts, making a big splash in our local and global innovation economy. Providing world-class intensive learning opportunities from growth coaches in a multi-faceted coaching and mentoring environment, participants prepare themselves to substantially increase revenues, acquire new customers, attract and retain talent, and position themselves to attract angel and venture capital investment. Mentored by serial entrepreneurs and supported by TechAlliance’s founder-first advisory team, GROW Accelerator helps organizations continue to shine in our local, national, and global economy.  

The Spring 2022 GROW cohort boasts a powerful lineup of ventures. From founders in business for 20+ years to new graduates launching into the tech and innovation world, the companies have had the opportunity connect and prepare for growth.   • Post Accelerator Coaching with Brennon D’Souza, Founder and CEO of DIBZ and GROW Accelerator alumni

PlanEasy 

PlanEasy is a financial planning and advisory service that helps to build comprehensive financial plans for every aspect of life. PlanEasy is redefining financial advice with an online and advice-only financial planning platform with no products, and no commissions. Their participation in GROW Accelerator has provided an opportunity to connect with local leaders in technology, as well as other entrepreneurs who can work alongside them in problem solving and innovation. “The GROW Accelerator has helped identify some key areas of opportunity that PlanEasy wants to focus on over the next few months”, says Owen Winkelmolen, Founder and CEO of PlanEasy, “Without that outside perspective and knowledge, prioritizing would have been more difficult, and that expertise has allowed us to be more informed about our future decisions”.

GoParity 

Launched in 2021 and founded by Ivey Business school graduate and Managing Director, Emily Mercy, GoParity is an impact investment platform that connects companies looking to finance sustainable projects with citizens wanting to make a positive impact and profit. With current expansion moving their innovations into Canada, they are providing opportunities to invest on an international level with an alignment to support sustainable development. The GROW Accelerator has allowed GoParity to discuss through open and honest conversations the experiences, troubles, trials, and successes of what it’s like to be a founder experiencing rapid growth. Providing and receiving feedback from other cohort participants, mentors, and growth-coaches, Mercy says, “The GROW Accelerator reminded me to take a step back and consider the broader aim of the business and its impact. It has taught me specific, actionable ways to address our business challenges, and pushed me to continuously change my perspective”.

Nielsen IT Consulting 

Launched in 1999 and innovating ever since, Nielsen IT Consulting Inc. is an independent consulting firm with a reputation for helping organizations achieve breakthrough results for their telecommunication investments. Providing unified communications and call center consultancy across Canada, Nielsen IT came into GROW Accelerator with vast entrepreneurial experience and an innovative mindset. Learning from the expertise of growth-coaches and likeminded entrepreneurs, Nielsen IT leveraged the TechAlliance team of advisors and networking strength to truly dive into growth and acceleration through the GROW experience. “Every session was an opportunity to learn,” says founder of Nielsen IT Consulting, Emily Nielsen, “The expertise of the group helped me validate some of our innovations, while also hearing other entrepreneurial stories and gaining opportunity for regional connections.”

Kabo 

Named after the founder’s first dog, Kabo, this fresh dog food business was built from a love of furry friends and an entrepreneurial spirit in action. Founded by Vino and Vijay Jeyapalan, the Kabo team is on a mission to improve the life of dogs through fresh food, subscription-based consumers, and veterinarian-backed science. Kabo was able to utilize the GROW Accelerator to continue making connections and have likeminded entrepreneurs, advisors, and community members support them with advice, storytelling, and committed advisory. “The GROW Accelerator is well-paced and offers a small community ecosystem that is hard to find”, says Vino, Co-founder and CEO of Kabo, “Through GROW, we were connected to great industry leaders and created an environment that doesn’t end when the cohort finishes, but makes for lifelong colleagues, too”.
