Innovation Factory Launches Intellectual Property Program to Help Startups and Scaling Companies Protect Their Innovations

Hamilton, ON, April 26, 2023 – Today, on World Intellectual Property Day, Innovation Factory is thrilled to announce the launch of its new program, OwnershIP, in association with the national IP Assist Program. OwnershIP by Innovation Factory is an experiential program designed to help startups and scaling companies navigate the intellectual property (IP) landscape and develop a robust IP strategy to achieve success in investment and global markets.

OwnershIP by Innovation Factory offers personalized educational resources to help business owners understand their current gaps, and develop a 3-5 year strategy for protecting their intellectual property. Successful applicants will leverage up to $15,000 worth of legal insight and expertise, funding opportunities, legal consultation, and a national network; empowering them to grow their IP knowledge, protect their property and scale their business.

In today’s business environment, protecting intellectual property and innovation is crucial but it’s often seen as complex and daunting for founders. OwnershIP by Innovation Factory breaks down the barriers to understanding intellectual property therefore making it easily accessible for entrepreneurs. What makes this program unique is that it not only focuses on educating founders, but it also provides actionable guidance through critical considerations and key stages of IP development.

The Canadian Intellectual Property Office of Innovation Science and Economic Development Canada’s IP Canada 2019 Report states that companies holding a higher understanding of intellectual property and have acquired formal IP are more likely to experience growth, expand their market, and secure various types of financing, making the OwnershIP program a vital tool for entrepreneurs.

“International market conditions are ripe for change, and IP is a catalyst in our clients’ growth,” said David Carter, CEO of Innovation Factory. “Many startup and scaling companies neglect the importance of intellectual property protection in their early stages of development. We developed OwnershIP to help entrepreneurs protect their ideas, innovations, and technologies to achieve growth and success in global markets.” Carter continued.

With OwnershIP, companies can own their innovation’s future, protect their IP, and be ready to grow. To learn more about OwnershIP by Innovation Factory, please visit ownership.innovationfactory.ca
