The significance of maintaining robust intellectual property (IP) protection takes on paramount importance in hardware development, which is why ventureLAB offers IP support for clients in every program to empower entrepreneurs & innovators, and fortifies the technological landscape by fostering an environment where groundbreaking ideas can flourish.
We’d like to congratulate the following ventureLAB companies from the Hardware Catalyst Initiative who have recently applied for or been granted patent protection for their innovations:
Attest Labs has been granted two patents for their magnetic resonance spectroscopy (MRS) system. Their device scans a patient’s thumb to non-invasively determine levels of metabolites like glucose, cholesterol and ethanol in their blood. We recently profiled Attest Labs’ IP success; learn more about their IP journey here.
Qoherent helps scientists and engineers explore applications of AI on software-defined radios. Qoherent recently filed their first patent application related to quantum machine learning and is in the process of building an IP strategy with the support of various government IP programs. According to Qoherent’s founder and CEO, Ashkan Beigi, the IP education he received during an IP Bootcamp provided by ventureLAB IP partner Bereskin & Parr helped him move his patenting strategy forward.
Solaires was recently granted a patent for their novel perovskite ink formulation, an environmentally friendly, stable and scalable solar ink that can be used to make highly efficient solar cells by using spin-coating, blade coating, slot die and inkjet processes. Solaires was also profiled on our blog; you can find their IP success story here.
Are you a ventureLAB client celebrating an IP success? If you’d like your IP story featured on our blog email Josée Pharand, ventureLAB’s Director of IP, at [email protected].
About Hardware Catalyst Initiative
ventureLAB’s Hardware Catalyst Initiative is Canada’s only lab and incubator for founders building hardware and semiconductor-focused products, enabling the creation of transformative technologies that will power our products of tomorrow. Funded in part by the Government of Canada, through the Federal Economic Development Agency for Southern Ontario (FedDev Ontario), the Hardware Catalyst helps tech companies accelerate their time to market in a sector that normally incurs lengthy entry and scale times, enabling Canadian hardware and semiconductor companies to grow and scale locally, and compete globally.
