Growing Global – Spark Centre

Durham Region is attracting International Technology & Innovation Businesses looking to put down roots in Canada. This January we welcomed 11 international technology and innovation businesses from Iran, China, Hong Kong, Vietnam and India for the second edition of the Pioneer Program.

Last November, we kicked off a two-week program, Pioneer Program, that exposes and educates international businesses on what it takes to do business in Canada. The program is focused on attracting companies that focus on the region’s key industry sectors, in the areas of — Energy, Health, Manufacturing, Digital ICT, Agritech, Edtech, Healthtech, Cleantech, Cybersecurity and Advanced Manufacturing.

“Spark Centre’s Pioneer Program is a two-week soft-landing program that is transforming Durham Region into a global landing pad for foreign founders and world-class startups. Working with our innovation partners across the province, this program will transform Ontario into a highly diverse hotbed of international talent and high growth companies.” Sherry Colbourne, CEO of Spark Centre.

Preparation is currently underway as we get set to deliver the Pioneer Program in Oman this March. The team are excited to be able to take the program global and look forward to working with over 50 technology and innovation entrepreneurs.
