In honor of this global celebration of women’s contributions, we’re excited to highlight four women-led companies that are breaking barriers and shaping the future of technology and innovation in our region: from advanced manufacturing to app development to greentech and beyond.

CAMufacturing Solutions is just one of many regional innovators reshaping the industrial landscape around them. Within the additive manufacturing sector, the company spearheads transformative initiatives, enhancing operational efficiency and reliability. The company provides software tools to manufacturers that give them control over the 3D-printing process, enabling them to create products that were inconceivable just a few years ago, ushering in a new era of manufacturing capabilities.

Dr. (Ruth) Jill Urbanic is the Vice President & Co-Founder, as well as a Professor in the Department of Mechanical, Automotive, and Materials Engineering at the University of Windsor. Her research focuses on advanced process design and manufacturing technologies. She is the recipient of both research and teaching awards and has made several advances in the area of additive manufacturing and hybrid process planning.

In 2020, Sarah Cipkar constructed a 430 sq. ft. backyard home in Windsor, Ontario, despite lacking prior construction experience. Facing challenges in navigating the process, she played a pivotal role in the construction. Recognizing the need for simplification, she founded Resimate, a platform to assess your lot, connects you with backyard home builders, and provides various models tailored to your needs, whether for family, guests, or rental income.

Sarah Cipkar is Founder & CEO of Resimate Inc. and ADUSearch, an online tool that helps Canadians discover the potential for ADUs in their own backyards in over 20 cities across Canada, including Toronto & Vancouver. In 2020, Sarah built her own 430sqft backyard home in Windsor, ON, which has informed all of her work in helping homeowners and policymakers alike. She is also a PhD Candidate in the Department of Geography & Planning at the University of Toronto.

IPM Scoutek is a proprietary web and mobile app that transforms scouting and Integrated Pest Management in the greenhouse industry. The company provides real-time pest management information to help greenhouses manage pest flareups, reduce input costs, and improve crop yield and quality. The platform helps greenhouses create a sustainable eco-system using biological controls to restrict harmful agents that affect people, animals, and the planet.

Carrie Izsak is the Co-Founder of IPM Scoutek as well as Vice President of Splice Digital and Executive Vice President of Prophecy.bi. Carrie is an accomplished entrepreneur and business development strategist with nearly three decades of expertise in manufacturing and, more recently, the dynamic tech industry. Her journey is marked by a passion for crafting business success stories through a blend of creative thought leadership, pragmatic problem-solving, innovative solution design, and an unwavering commitment to exceptional quality.

Scribble Maps is an online mapping tool that allows users to create custom maps, draw routes, add markers, and annotate maps with various shapes and text. It offers features such as measuring distances, importing/exporting data, and collaborating with others in real-time. The platform supports multiple map styles and layers, making it suitable for various purposes including planning trips, illustrating presentations, and analyzing geographic data. Carolina (Borrás Martinez) Wagner is the Director of Customer Education, introducing the world to the easiest and most approachable GIS (Geographic Information Systems) platform on the market: Scribble Maps. Profiled in TIME and BBC Travel, Carolina is an expert in world travel while working in GIS and tech.
