Femtech Canada Enhances Support Network by Introducing wHealth MedPath Program for Start-ups

Summary: Launch of Women’s Health Medical Pathway (wHealth MedPath)

On July 24, 2025, Femtech Canada announced the launch of the Women’s Health Medical Pathway (wHealth MedPath), a new initiative aimed at accelerating the commercialization of women’s health innovations in Canada. This program targets femtech start-ups, addressing a crucial gap in the innovation pipeline by providing expert-driven support to help these companies navigate the complexities of bringing their innovations to market.

The wHealth MedPath program is a collaborative effort between Femtech Canada and Innovation Factory, with partial funding from the National Research Council of Canada Industrial Research Assistance Program (NRC IRAP). The program engages various stakeholders, including physician networks, investment groups, contract research organizations, and design and manufacturing companies. This multifaceted approach offers valuable project support and services aimed at validating women’s health innovations, ultimately guiding them toward market readiness. The services focus on reducing risks, enhancing clinical credibility, and refining commercialization strategies.

Karen Linseman, VP of Operations at Innovation Factory, emphasized the importance of this initiative. She noted that women’s health innovation has the potential to contribute $27 billion to Canada’s GDP by 2040, highlighting it as a significant growth opportunity. The wHealth MedPath program is designed to provide femtech founders with the clinical insights and expert guidance they need to deliver impactful solutions, thereby positioning Canada as a global leader in this sector.

Through the wHealth MedPath program, companies will receive assistance in gathering feedback from key opinion leaders, engaging in product design and testing, and in essential documentation activities such as regulatory planning and clinical study design. This support is intended to facilitate significant commercialization milestones for femtech founders and advance the entire sector.

Femtech Canada was established with the goal of supporting innovators and addressing persistent gaps in women's health. Since its public launch in 2024, it has become the third largest femtech ecosystem globally, encompassing over 170 women’s health companies. These companies have successfully commercialized a combined 110 years of Canadian research, creating more than 1,200 jobs and generating over $250 million in private investment.

The call for participation in the wHealth MedPath program encourages femtech companies to apply for assistance. Interested parties can learn more and apply at the Femtech Canada website.
