Exceeding expectations: Demo Days continue providing start-ups with competitive opportunities

Since 2011, ventureLAB has enabled technology startups to accelerate the commercialization of transformational products on a global scale. An integral part of the entrepreneurial journey is securing strategic investment: Demo Days are an opportunity for startups and scaleups to showcase their solution and connect directly with angel or seed stage investors. This March, we hosted three successful Demo Days, inviting companies to pitch their products and services to aligned investors and partners. 20+ companies showcased products from virtual crowd-monitoring solutions and AI-enabled video surveillance to hydroponic growing systems and digitized immigration solutions. ventureLAB’s Demo Days are offered exclusively to companies in our Capital Investment Program. The rigorous program provides companies with a combination of services designed specifically to prepare them for investment and rapid growth. Our intensive program focuses on helping our clients to craft a compelling pitch, connecting with strategically aligned investors, and putting in place a long-term capital strategy to support the rapid growth of their business. In a year of business uncertainty, Capital Investment Program companies showcased their resiliency and vision in 2020 to create 20+ jobs and raise over $15 million in investment capital. The Capital Investment Program reaches a national audience and continues to attract investors looking to invest in innovative tech businesses. The three March Demo Days were organized by industry and sector: Hardware and Health; SaaS and Enterprise Software, and International Delegation.

Hardware and Health

• TROES Corp is a Canadian-based Advanced Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) manufacturer, specializing in developing, designing and delivering smart, high performance, cloud-based energy storage systems that integrate their proprietary technology.
• Able Innovations focuses on solving the problem of patient transfer in healthcare today. Able Innovations is leveraging new and exciting technological advancements to develop products that bring dramatic improvements in healthcare delivery and quality of life.
• EAIGLE utilizes Artificial Intelligence and Computer Vision for crowd monitoring, video analytics, and space optimization software. EAIGLE is committed to creating smart buildings and facilities to help cut down on unnecessary costs and optimize operations.
• Hyivy Health offers a pelvic rehabilitation device with trackable data for women who have pelvic cancers and diseases to help alleviate pelvic health symptoms after a devastating diagnosis, treatment or surgery.
• Zero Energy Water is a leading applied sciences company inexpensive fresh-water solutions and ground-breaking desalination and water-purification technologies for industry, agriculture, governments and civic utilities.

Saas + Enterprise Software

• STEM Minds is a K-12 STEM content creator and program provider for both in-person and online learning, designed by expert educators and technical professionals and supported by research and education pedagogy.
• Open House AI is a cloud-based web platform for residential real-estate that empowers buyers and sellers to make better and faster real estate decisions through clarity and transparency.
• Groundlevel Insights is a movement science company leveraging mobile consumer location data to power Enlightened Business Decisions, using AI machine learning to provide demand side retail consumer insights and analytics.
• TechRyde is a smart and safe online ordering solution for Oracle MICROS and other POS systems, using technology to better digitize restaurants to provide solutions for the food and beverage sector that enable efficient operations and business growth .
• PressMonitor is a software solution to monitor social media and online media coverage about organizations, competitors, and industry trends.
• Veer.AI help retail companies make data-driven decisions by giving small and medium size e-commerce companies access to affordable data science.
• JointApp is digitizing immigration by building the digital infrastructure required for modern global immigration starting with international students within Canada.
• Mero Technologies is creating the first “Waze for Cleaners” on the market by offering predictive routing of cleaning labour through commercial facilities, dispatching cleaners to high-priority areas.

International Delegation

• Beauceron Security is a technology designed to make it faster, easier and less complex for organizations of all kinds and sizes to get a sense for their cyber risk and to help them take actions to reduce that risk.
• Open Ocean Robotics produces energy-harvesting unmanned autonomous boats equipped with sensors and cameras to make oceanic observations and instantly relay them. Using solar or wind power to offer a safer, more efficient and affordable way of collecting data.
• Hyperion Sensors AI is developing world class substation hardened BOTDA for power transformers, seeking to deliver the highest value by bringing more innovation, new services and newer technology.
• Summit Nano Tech is developing a green lithium extraction process to help meet the energy storage needs of the future, developing with industry, government and academic partners
