Announcing the 4th Cohort of the Hardware Catalyst Initiative

ventureLAB’s Hardware Catalyst Initiative is proud to announce the 4th Cohort of the Hardware Catalyst Initiative, Canada’s only lab and incubator for founders building hardware and semiconductor-focused products, enabling the creation of transformative technologies that will power our products of tomorrow.

These companies have undergone not only a selective and competitive application process, but participated in ventureLAB’s first Hardware Catalyst Initiative Bootcamp, a rigorous new addition to the selection process which ensured that all cohort companies were set up for success in hardware, an industry that is notoriously difficult to succeed in with long lead times for both product validation and investment alike.

Applied Brain Research


Applied Brain Research has developed new kinds of AI that exploit temporal neural networks. They have developed a software platform, Nengo, that flexibly combines conventional and unconventional algorithms and hardware to deliver the lowest power, fastest speeds and highest accuracy.

Aqusense

Aqusense has developed a patented smart sensor system which can, through a combination of unique algorithms and machine learning, passively sense, acquire and deliver actionable data and insights about presence & human physiology in real world environments. 

CircuitlQ

CircuitIQ is digitizing electrical panels using their wireless multi-circuit plug & play smart tool that optimizes the process of analyzing electrical circuits by enabling simultaneous testing and providing a circuit safety evaluation report identifying active electrical safety issues.

Moviwear

Moviwear is a medical platform that allows families to self-manage their loved one’s health using simplified and affordable wearable devices that offer 24 hour remote monitoring. MoviWear’s developments in technology provides an opportunity to allow people’s ability to self-manage their health and wellbeing, alerts healthcare professionals to changes in their condition and supports medication adherence. For health and social care providers, it can help deliver safer, more efficient and cost-effective care.

One Silicon Chip Photonics

Founded in 2015, One Silicon Chip Photonics (OSCP) is a fabless Canadian-based integrated optics sensor company providing inertial navigation sensors for autonomous vehicles. Based on their patented technology, our current activity is to bring to market a range of proprietary, high performance integrated optical motion sensors for self-driving car and drone markets.

PROVO Innovations

PROVA specializes in wearable technology solutions for in-home GAIT training and neuromuscular rehabilitation for patients with a brain injury, neurological disorder, degenerative disease or a mobility challenge. The products uniquely promote exercise and neuro recovery in a non-invasive way by providing the patient with consistent biofeedback and coaching during everyday activity.

Visiontif

Visiontif is empowering the Visually Impaired to navigate independently by integrating AI/ML powered technology in a wearable device that will describe the scenes being captured.

Zing5G Communications brings 4K, low latency gaming and streaming content to enhance the living room experience. Customers can boost wifi capabilities with the accumulation of bleeding edge technologies like 5G and Wifi 6, meaning more devices and higher speeds than ever before.
