The Small Business & Entrepreneurship Centre (SBEC), a branch of Invest WindsorEssex, is launching the New Start Ventures program, designed to support newcomer entrepreneurs in Windsor-Essex. This initiative aims to equip immigrants with the necessary knowledge, skills, mentorship, and resources to successfully start and expand their businesses in Canada. The program is funded by Libro Credit Union and partnered with Community Futures Essex County.
New Start Ventures offers a comprehensive training series, advisory support, and networking opportunities tailored specifically for immigrant entrepreneurs. Participants will receive step-by-step guidance to navigate the processes of launching and growing their enterprises, gaining access to expert advisors, group mentorship, and networking events to connect with industry leaders and fellow entrepreneurs.
Targeted at permanent residents and Convention Refugees who have been in Canada for less than five years, the program is set to run twice in 2025, with the first cohort commencing on March 31. Newcomers are recognized as pivotal contributors to Canada’s economic development, enhancing job creation and entrepreneurship. New Start Ventures seeks to address common challenges faced by these potential entrepreneurs, including limited access to business knowledge, financial resources, and networking opportunities, thereby helping them turn their business ideas into reality.
Libro Credit Union, known for advocating financial resilience and community involvement, emphasizes its commitment to driving local economic growth. The foundation’s funding for New Start Ventures reflects its dedication to fostering inclusive entrepreneurship and providing newcomers with the necessary tools to establish sustainable businesses.
Interested newcomers are encouraged to apply for the New Start Ventures program. For further details, potential participants can visit the program's webpage.
