ventureLAB Thrilled to Partner with Serbia in Promoting Responsible AI Development

At the Global Partnership on Artificial Intelligence (GPAI) Summit in Serbia, ventureLAB recognizes Serbia's proactive leadership and dedication to advancing responsible AI. With ventureLAB's Chief AI Advisor, Garry Chan, actively participating in discussions on collaborative innovation, the summit is seen as the beginning of a promising partnership with Serbia's burgeoning AI ecosystem.

Serbia has strategically positioned itself as a leader in AI governance, introducing the Ethical Guidelines for the Development, Application, and Use of Responsible AI in 2023. These guidelines aim to mitigate risks associated with AI technologies while protecting individual rights and enhancing decision-making, aligning with ventureLAB’s core principles of ethical AI development and commercialization.

As Serbia co-chairs GPAI and hosts the 2024 GPAI conference, its influential role in shaping global AI policy and collaboration is clear. The country’s Strategy for the Development of Artificial Intelligence lays the groundwork for innovation and the attraction of global talent, supported by the establishment of the Institution for Artificial Intelligence Research and Development, which promotes cutting-edge research and development.

Serbia's AI ecosystem is thriving, driven by targeted government initiatives that provide salary tax exemptions, corporate tax incentives, and grants to support AI-driven projects. This attractive investment climate strengthens Serbia's reputation as a global AI innovation hub. The World Bank's investment of EUR 25 million through the Serbia Accelerating Innovation and Growth Entrepreneurship (SAIGE) Project further demonstrates the country’s commitment to fostering entrepreneurship and innovation.

VentureLAB sees significant opportunities for collaboration with Serbia to enhance responsible AI development and commercialization. Serbia's commitment to innovation aligns with ventureLAB's mission to support companies that prioritize ethical practices in their technology solutions and that tackle real-world challenges. By connecting their ecosystems, both organizations can utilize their combined strengths to develop scalable solutions that not only transform industries but also uphold ethical and responsible principles in AI usage.

The GPAI Summit has illuminated the potential for global partnerships in AI development. Serbia's initiatives, focus on ethical considerations, and commitment to creating an inclusive AI landscape exemplify values that resonate with ventureLAB’s philosophy of promoting collaborative, responsible innovation for societal good.

As ventureLAB prepares to strengthen ties between Canada and Serbia, it is eager to facilitate meaningful connections among innovators and contribute to a global dialogue on responsible AI. By collaborating, both entities can maximize AI's potential to tackle complex societal issues while ensuring that its advancement is in harmony with human values. As this partnership evolves, ventureLAB plans to share insights and updates, showcasing the joint efforts to promote ethical AI practices and meaningful innovation.
