ventureLAB Announces HardTech Pitch Competition Winners

At this year’s HardTech Pitch Competition, Canada’s premier hardware technology-focused conference, were eight visionary companies competing for cash prizes of $50,000. Hundreds joined virtually and in-person from across the globe as founders showcased their breakthrough products and innovations in hardware technology to an expert judging panel made up of industry leaders, seasoned experts and investors.

HardTech’s Pitch Competition serves as an opportunity to provide small and medium enterprises in Canada with the chance to develop their hardware innovations in areas including cleantech, automotive, medtech, agriculture, retail and more. This year’s competition was held in partnership by ventureLAB and the Regional Municipality of York.

Taking home first place was Argentum Electronics, with a total cash prize of $35,000. Argentum Electronics stole the show with an engaging presentation including props to demonstrate their innovative solution. Since 2015, Argentum Electronics has been revolutionizing the way power is distributed and managed. They solve energy waste in commercial and industrial buildings by implementing a Direct Current (DC) power distribution system that combines the benefits of low voltage wiring practices with voltage capabilities of 450 Volts DC.

In second place receiving a $15,000 cash prize was Daanaa, a chip-based technology that allows forward-thinking manufacturers to reimagine fundamental engineering problems through advanced, integrated power transfer. Daanaa exists to create a world where humanity’s hunger for energy is satisfied sustainably through cutting-edge engineering. This was Daanaa’s first Pitch Competition and it was a huge success!

Other finalists participating in the Pitch Competition include Mazlite, One Silicon Chip Photonics, Qoherent, VCycene, Ekidna and VoxCell BioInnovation.
