Stoked Bio Secures Completion of Seed Financing Round

Stoked Bio Inc. Secures Seed Financing to Advance Novel Therapeutics

On May 1, 2026, Stoked Bio Inc., a Canadian biotechnology firm specializing in new anti-infectives and cancer therapeutics, announced the successful closure of its Seed financing round. This round was primarily led by a consortium of Angel Investors, along with contributions from insiders. The funding will propel the development of Stoked Bio’s internal pipeline of products toward proof of concept.

Stoked Bio aims to discover and advance innovative therapeutic candidates through a unique, biology-first approach using AI technology developed in the Jon Stokes lab at McMaster University. This proprietary method has led to the advancement of a portfolio targeting diseases that are resistant to existing treatment modalities. The newly acquired financing will support projects focusing on anti-infectives, microbiome-related conditions, a novel cancer treatment for glioblastoma, and an innovative approach to alleviating symptoms of Parkinson’s Disease.

CEO Jeff Skinner expressed excitement about the funding, stating, “This financing, in combination with significant non-dilutive funding, gives us the runway to push our expanding portfolio of novel drug candidates toward late-stage proof of concept and begin partnership discussions.” Notably, Skinner highlighted that 99% of the funding originated from Ontario.

In the current landscape, a disproportionate amount of research resources is allocated to a limited number of druggable targets. Stoked Bio’s mission is to broaden treatment options for diseases that present critical medical needs. One of its leading candidates, Enterololin, is a novel antibiotic targeting infections on the World Health Organization’s (WHO) priority pathogen list and showcasing potential for various microbiome-related conditions. Collaborating with the University of Guelph, Stoked Bio is also exploring a fungal infection program aimed at treating significant fungal infections resistant to available therapies.

The Stokes Lab at McMaster University is dedicated to studying antibiotics and host-microbe interactions. Its researchers uncovered Enterololin, and the associated AI-driven mechanistic research was published in Nature Microbiology, earning media attention both domestically and internationally.

Enterololin selectively targets Enterobacteriaceae, a family of bacteria classified as priority pathogens by the WHO, which are also associated with numerous microbiome-related health issues. The microbiome plays a critical role in human health, and Enterololin has the potential to minimize the extensive disruption caused by traditional antibiotics, thereby enhancing treatment options for patients suffering from conditions such as hepatic encephalopathy, recurrent urinary tract infections, and Crohn’s disease.

Stoked Bio is redefining the discovery and development pathways for therapies targeting drug-resistant diseases through its innovative biology-first strategy, which integrates disease-specific training data with advanced machine learning algorithms to identify compounds with genuine biological effects and strong translational potential. This approach not only enhances the likelihood of success but also accelerates development timelines through early partnerships with pharmaceutical companies.

As Stoked Bio continues to grow, it remains committed to providing novel therapeutic solutions for critical resistant diseases. For further details, visit Stoked Bio’s website or contact CEO Jeff Skinner via email for inquiries.
