Advanced IP Services

For entrepreneurs, researchers, business leaders or small-to-medium size enterprises looking for basic Intellectual property (IP) education which is available on-demand. Expert created and reviewed courses are available for free as on-demand self-study materials to anyone interested in learning more about IP. We will be publishing our recommended basic IP Education courses and webinars that have open access for any interested party.

Three services are currently available for the first intake of eligible clients:

Financial Support for the Protection and Commercialization of IP

Financial supports are available to eligible clients who need non-dilutive access to capital to build, maintain, or protect their commercialization and market opportunities. This support service uses a grant program to subsidize the cost of IP protection and commercialization services for eligible clients and provides access to a roster of service providers that IPON’s clients may choose to use. This roster will offer IPON’s eligible clients a selection of vetted, quality service providers with expertise in various areas of IP protection and commercialization. Eligible clients will choose their own service providers, from the roster or otherwise, but those that do not have a standing relationship for professional IP advice may wish to review the roster before selecting a service provider.

IPON’s financial support is available for assessments and IP audits, IP valuation, IP strategy assessments, IP registrations such as new or divisional patent filings, trademarks or copyright registrations. Support will also extend to application of IP in the commercial context including support for IP agreements (NDA, licences) or contracts with high IP impact (MSA’s, partnership agreements, or data management plans).

A micro-credential (rapid training program) is available to eligible clients who complete our recommended basic IP education courses, as well as live learning sessions with IP thought leaders. During the 2-3 hour live learning session, IP experts will facilitate class discussion, provide practical guidance and case study review.

IP Mentorship

Mentorship is available for eligible clients who need an independent voice to help validate or consider approaches to improve their business or commercialization outcomes using IP. Through direct one-on-one mentorship, IPON provides access to independent IP experts who support clients to help determine their IP needs, understand how they can develop IP strategies, and then manage and commercialize their IP in new ways. This mentorship will be valuable for eligible clients who are in various stages of commercialization, have newly created IP, or have already developed mature IP positions.
