Launched in 2023, the organization formerly known as Brampton Angels has officially transitioned to Altitude Angels. This rebranding reflects an expanded commitment to fostering innovation and providing growth capital across a broader geographic footprint, including Brampton, Mississauga, and Caledon.
In its first two years of operation, the group has established itself as a cornerstone of the local tech ecosystem. Since its inception, Altitude Angels has achieved several key milestones:
Capital deployed: $2.6 million invested in early-stage companies.
Portfolio growth: Seven high-growth companies funded to date.
Founder engagement: Over 100 founders have pitched to the group, representing sectors such as health tech, construction tech, sport tech, and deep tech.
The organization also prioritizes investor education through its Angel 101 series. This program offers critical insights into due diligence, startup evaluation, intellectual property, and tax implications, ensuring a well-informed investor community.
The group’s investments represent some of the most promising "changemakers" in Canadian technology. Notable portfolio companies include:
Panaxium: A neuroscience firm creating personalized therapies for brain injury and stroke recovery.
TritonWear: A wearables company providing data-driven insights for competitive swimmers.
Arma Bioscience: A biotech company developing mobile, clinical-grade devices for at-home patient monitoring.
As Altitude Angels, the group is broadening its reach to support the GTA West innovation corridor. The 2026 strategy focuses on growing the investor network in Mississauga and Caledon to support local innovations in several key sectors:
Biotechnology and pharmaceuticals
Information and communications technologies (ICT)
Aerospace, automotive, and advanced manufacturing
Finance, insurance, and real estate (FIRE)
Agriculture and food processing
The leadership team views this evolution as a way to ensure high-potential companies can both start and scale within the region.
Nick Kuryluk, Co-Chair of Altitude Accelerator, notes that the new identity deepens the commitment to ensuring founders have access to the "capital, mentorship, and networks needed to grow." Pam Banks, Executive Director, adds that while the name has changed, the commitment to backing ambitious founders with "smart capital" remains the top priority.
Altitude Angels continues to seek passionate investors interested in diversifying their portfolios with groundbreaking startups. Membership offers the opportunity to shape the future of Canadian innovation while benefiting from a trusted community and structured educational resources.
