Longan Vision – Innovation Hub

Logan Vision was founded in 2018 by three university students from China, introducing their innovative Fusion Vision System (FVS), an augmented reality smart visor designed for firefighters. This smart visor enhances visibility in challenging conditions, specifically dense smoke, by integrating heads-up display technology, thermal imaging, sensors, and real-time information sharing capabilities. The FVS aims to provide firefighters with hands-free visibility, significantly improving their safety and operational efficiency during fire emergencies.

To support their venture in Canada, Longan Vision sought resources and guidance for business growth. As a Start-up Visa Designate, Spark Centre played a crucial role in this process. They provided a letter of support, enabling the team to access vital resources and connect with advisors specializing in sales, marketing, finance, and investment. Additionally, Spark Centre facilitated connections with industry partners who offered valuable feedback on the product, enhancing its development and market readiness.

Since the initial support from Spark Centre, Longan Vision has experienced considerable growth and success. The company has expanded its team significantly and launched pilot projects across both North America and Asia. Notably, one of these initiatives includes a pilot program in collaboration with Durham College’s firefighting program, demonstrating the practical applications of their technology in training scenarios.

The company has also made significant strides in securing financial support. They successfully obtained a $2.4 million contract with Canada’s Department of National Defence, which underscores the trust and reliance on their technology within critical sectors. In addition, Longan Vision has achieved a global investment, further solidifying their position in the market and enabling continued growth and development of their products.

The journey of Longan Vision illustrates a successful narrative of entrepreneurship, innovation, and collaboration, reflecting the potential impact of supportive ecosystems like Spark Centre on emerging businesses. With a clear focus on enhancing firefighter safety through cutting-edge technology, Longan Vision is poised to make significant contributions to the firefighting community, aligning their vision with real-world applications that address pressing needs in emergency response. The company's evolution from a university project to a recognized player in the industry highlights the importance of strategic partnerships and resource access in fostering innovation and scaling successful ventures in today's competitive landscape.
