Invest Ottawa is calling for applications for new volunteer members to join its Board of Directors. This initiative provides a chance to shape the direction of one of Canada's leading economic development agencies and apply your expertise to support Ottawa's founders, innovators, and entrepreneurs.
Since its inception in 2012, Invest Ottawa has successfully assisted companies in securing over $2.39 billion in capital, fostering the creation of more than 20,000 jobs, and drawing in more than $2.34 billion in domestic and foreign direct investments. The agency’s achievements stem from a remarkable community and a Board dedicated to facilitating this progress.
The organization seeks leaders with experience in several key areas, including:
- Intellectual Property: Strategy, protection, and commercialization
- Entrepreneurship and venture development
- Finance, capital, and funding
- Global business, trade, and investment
- Government relations and public policy
- Marketing and branding
- Technology commercialization and adoption
- Diversity, equity, and inclusion
Additionally, candidates with expertise in priority sectors such as artificial intelligence (AI), defense, aerospace, cleantech, health technologies, smart mobility, advanced software, and semiconductors are highly sought.
Invest Ottawa particularly encourages applications from individuals representing equity-deserving groups, including Indigenous peoples, racialized individuals, women, 2SLGBTQ+ individuals, persons with disabilities, and newcomers to Canada. This initiative aims to create a diverse and inclusive Board that reflects the community's varied perspectives.
Board members are expected to commit approximately 12 hours per quarter over a three-year term, which can be renewed once. To ensure a smooth transition, a structured onboarding program will be made available for new members.
