On October 7, 2025, Boundless Accelerator in Guelph, Ontario, announced that 13 companies were selected to receive non-repayable contributions of up to $20,000 each as part of Cohort Four of the i.d.e.a. Fund™. This initiative aims to support clean growth firms in southern Ontario by providing financial and business advisory support for developing or redesigning eco-friendly products and technologies. The goal is to reduce environmental impacts and cultivate Canadian solutions for climate change.
The i.d.e.a. Fund™ is underpinned by a $5.2 million investment from the Government of Canada through the Federal Economic Development Agency for Southern Ontario (FedDev Ontario). The fund is delivered in collaboration with six Regional Innovation Centres (RICs): Boundless Accelerator, Innovate Niagara, Innovation Factory, Launch Lab, TechAlliance of Southwestern Ontario, and WEtech Alliance. The program promotes diversity and inclusion, emphasizing sustainable and circular economy growth across Canada.
Alison Crumblehulme, CEO of Boundless Accelerator, highlighted the cohort as a representation of companies spearheading innovative clean technology and circular economy solutions. “Their resilience and vision are shaping the path to a more sustainable future,” she remarked, expressing pride in supporting these firms as they expand their influence across southern Ontario and beyond.
The Honourable Evan Solomon, Minister of Artificial Intelligence and Digital Innovation, commented on the importance of the fund, stating, “Canada’s future depends on bold innovation and sustainable economic growth.” He noted that the work of the i.d.e.a. Fund is assisting southern Ontario’s entrepreneurs in commercializing clean technologies, thus enhancing community prosperity while protecting the environment. It positions Canada as a global leader in clean growth.
The companies receiving support in this cohort include ArcticEdge Technologies, BioPolatis, Carib.Farm, Clean Market Bag, Eden Aeroponics, Flockart Robotics, GridS2, Roll Up, SALT Leisure Wear, Sheps Farm, SOHA Energy, Tempeh Goodness, and VIGELON. Boundless Accelerator also collaborates with four organizations to promote circular economy initiatives, including the University of Guelph, McGill University, Ontario College of Art & Design (OCAD), and the City of Guelph Solid Waste Resources.
Established in 2011, Boundless Accelerator has assisted over 1,400 entrepreneurs by offering expert guidance, resources, and education to help build sustainable ventures.
