2025: Celebrating a Year of Growth, Partnership, and Community Impact

As 2025 comes to a close, WEtech Alliance reflects on a successful year characterized by growth, collaboration, and impactful community engagement. The organization has proudly supported numerous innovators and founders who are fostering meaningful change in the region and beyond.

This year marked several significant achievements, including the crowning of the $20,000 winner from the ScaleUP Accelerator's Cohort 8. With renewed support from Libro Credit Union and new collaborations with Communitech and FedDev Ontario, the ScaleUP program was expanded beyond its traditional regions of Windsor-Essex and Chatham-Kent for its ninth cohort, welcoming ten new companies—the largest cohort to date.

The i.d.e.a. Fund also made strides in 2025, benefitting an additional twelve innovative companies with up to $240,000 in non-repayable contributions, aimed at promoting clean growth solutions and sustainable technologies across southern Ontario.

The regional tech ecosystem flourished with various community events and summits. Highlights included the Tech Connect Meetups, the launch of a Windsor-made video game, and the unveiling of a Canadian tech-themed mural. Key events such as Windsor-Essex DevFest 2025 and the AI Summit were also milestones. Moreover, cross-border collaborations were strengthened through gatherings like the 2025 MedHealth Summit and the Downtown Detroit Partnership Fall Forum.

In showcasing regional leaders, WEtech Alliance featured five innovative companies during Canadian Innovation Week, celebrated the accomplishments of four women founders in March, and highlighted eight founders during Global Entrepreneurship Week. Additionally, four Emerging Leaders made The Peak’s 2025 list, and over a dozen regional leaders engaged with the organization's Innovation Alchemy podcast, which delved into various aspects of innovation.

This year also introduced key organizational milestones for WEtech Alliance. New leaders joined the Board of Directors for the term spanning 2025-2026, three new experts were added to the Growth Coach roster, and the WEsecure pilot project was launched to provide cybersecurity support to businesses. The team also relocated to a centralized location in downtown Windsor to enhance collaboration across the innovation ecosystem.

As WEtech Alliance looks ahead to 2026, the team and Board of Directors extend their warmest wishes for a safe and joyous holiday season to all clients, partners, and community members. The focus remains on fostering a thriving tech ecosystem that continues to inspire and usher in innovation, collaboration, and community development.
